For 2014’s NaNoWriMo, I decided to undertake two projects. The first, a young adult novella titled Push to Open, is a story based in Nottingham about how, with a little luck, hard work and imagination, a person can turn their life around. The second project is not so much a book as a collection, with the working title Short Stories for Sleepless Nights. The idea behind this collection is that, being someone who is often irritatingly awake at the wrong time of day, I noticed a lack in the more adult-oriented short story. My aim is to at least partially fill that gap with my own fiction and hopefully create something which I would have appreciated reading on such nights of wakefulness.
