A to Z Challenge: C

cFor today’s selection I decided on a book which not only shattered all my expectations, but had me laughing aloud on several occasions. I have chosen, as my “C” contribution the devilishly good Clovenhoof.

In almost any company, the trouble usually starts in admin. Due to corporate decisions and staff reshuffling in the Afterlife, the Devil finds himself banished to the next best place; the suburbs of Birmingham.

From there, this book follows Jeremy Clovenhoof as he attempts to integrate with his new surroundings, making friends with an unlikely pair, and discovering wonders of the human world, (and a particular fondness for Lambrini).

Clovenhoof is a superb example of the sadly rather rare, quintessentially English, sense of humour. I’d never expected to find religion and humour coexisting on the page in such wonderful harmony as they do here. Even if you’ve not experienced the joys of The Midlands, or even visited England, I’m told this book is still a highly entertaining read and will almost certainly make you crack a smile on even the dourest of days.

  1. I’ve stumbled across your blog thanks to this challenge, and I’m really glad I did because that book sounds brilliant! 😄 I must have it, thank you so much for sharing!

    1. You’re most welcome! The only thing better than discovering a new, great read, is being able to share that discovery with someone else. I hope you enjoy Clovenhoof (and the others in the series) and look forward to seeing more from you.
